Temple College, Workforce & Visual Arts Center
Temple College needed a modern, purpose-built facility to replace outdated and under-sized spaces on the campus. The goal was to design a building that could support both creative and technical education under one roof, while also serving as a new northern gateway to the school.
Looking to create a space that empowers student to hone their craft, we partnered with the College to design and deliver a new Workforce & Visual Arts Center. Our team provided architecture, interior design, structural, and mechanical, engineering, and plumbing (MEP) engineering to bring this vision to life. Our history providing Temple College with facility assessment, master plan, and bond planning services enriched the design. Funded by a $124.9 million bond, this building is one of several projects transforming the campus.
The 71,260-square-foot (6,620-square-metre), two-story facility nearly doubles the art program¡¯s footprint with multiple studios, a public gallery, and outdoor kiln and sculpture areas. The space equips students to advance their skills in 3D art, photography, ceramics, painting, and woodworking. The landscape of Central Texas¡¯ rapidly growing economy is changing, so the workforce spaces feature flexible high-bay labs, classrooms, and computer labs for these new careers. Each area empowers students to learn the latest in high-demand industries like construction, agriculture, semiconductors, and robotics.
With these resources, Temple College can now offer new degree and certification programs in partnership with Texas A&M University¨CCentral Texas. This project is more than just a building, it¡¯s a launchpad for local talent. Here, students now have space to display and market their skills while continuing to bolster their community¡¯s legacy.?
