Stantec receives 2023 Employer Award from Montreal¡¯s Downtown Business Development Corporation

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been named 2023 Employer of the Year by Montr¨¦al centre-ville, the Downtown Business Development Corporation (SDC) for Montreal. This award recognizes Âé¶¹´«Ã½¡¯s leadership and efforts made at its Montreal offices to create an inspiring, engaging, and inclusive workplace, notably by facilitating the return to in-person work over the past year.

We are truly honoured to be recognized as one of the best employers in downtown Montreal. We have put in significant efforts to redesign our offices and establish engaging initiatives, to ensure that our employees can collaborate better, continue to innovate, and flourish within our firm and in the community. As a well-established Montreal design and engineering firm, we are pleased to make a concrete contribution to the vibrancy and revitalization of the downtown core, whether through our projects or by the quality of our work environment.

Montr¨¦al centre-ville is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help make downtown Montreal a dynamic, safe, and world-class place to shop, work, and live. The organization brings together nearly 5,000 member businesses in the downtown Montreal area and is the largest business development corporation of its kind in Canada.

Contributing to the vibrancy of Montreal¡¯s downtown core
Through its projects, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ contributes to the beautification of downtown Montreal¡¯s urban landscape. The firm provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the massive ring erected on Place Ville Marie¡¯s esplanade, an emblematic symbol of the downtown area. Âé¶¹´«Ã½ also worked with the Soci¨¦t¨¦ qu¨¦b¨¦coise des infrastructures on the requalification project of the former Royal Victoria Hospital site on Mount Royal.

Taking concrete actions for an inclusive workplace
Over the past two years, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ has introduced a series of initiatives at its Montreal offices and elsewhere in Quebec to foster collaboration, professional development, and employee engagement. Those initiatives include the adoption of a flexible work strategy, the redesign of its offices in the greater Montreal area, the establishment of the first?Developing Professionals Group?in Quebec. In addition, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ launched its first?¹ó¾±±ð°ù³Ù¨¦°ª³§³Ù²¹²Ô³Ù±ð³¦?(Pride@Âé¶¹´«Ã½) employee resource group in Quebec, which offers networking opportunities and activities for employees from the LGBTQI+ community and their allies.

Moreover, in recognition of its inclusive workplace practices, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ was recently named to?Bloomberg's 2023 Gender-Equality Index?for the fourth consecutive year, celebrating its achievements in women¡¯s representation and equality in the workplace. In addition, in 2022,?Stantec earned Ambassador level on a Workplace Pride global report?for its ongoing commitment to inclusiveness for LGBTQI+ people at work, particularly in the areas of policy and communication, policy network, and awareness.
